The Formula One team has placed Nyck de Vries on standby in the event that Lando Norris is unable to recuperate in time to compete in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
According to theplaceforgames.com, McLaren has stated that Nyck de Vries will be the driver on standby to compete for the team in the event that Lando Norris is unable to participate in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Dutch driver is now in Brazil and will take over for Norris as McLaren’s primary driver in the event that the latter does not make a speedy recovery from the food illness he had.
De Vries made his debut in Formula One earlier this year with the Williams team. He was a late-notice replacement for Alex Albon, and he went on to score points in the race.
In 2022, de Vries would be making an appearance for the sixth different team if he drove for McLaren.
In addition to his appearance for Williams, he also took part in free practice sessions for Mercedes and Aston Martin. Earlier in the year, he had tested out an older Alpine car.
